As Fall arrives, with the cooler weather, it’s time to get out and conduct some “terrain walks.”
And while you’re out there on the links, why not support those less-fortunate Veterans who don’t have homes?
Yes, it’s time again for the Operation Renewed Hope Foundation (ORHF) Golf Tournament at Ft Belvoir Golf Course on Thurs 15 Sep 0900 hours shotgun.
The Foundation has made huge strides in ending homelessness in the DC area and spends the donations wisely, with very little overhead. Fantastic rating from Charity Navigator. Almost all of ORHF personnel are volunteers. Check out their website to see the goodness.
We normally have this tournament in June around the Army’s Birthday, but this year, with very kind assistance from a new supporter, WMAL Radio (105.9 FM), we opted to do a Fall event. The new date ensured that there was time to make the general public, and not just the defense community, aware of the opportunity . You likely have heard the numerous ads about the tourney on WMAL throughout the last several months.
An added treat this year is that WMAL’s Mornings on the Mall show will be LIVE from the golf course! Personalities Brian Wilson and Larry O’Connor will be there to meet and greet, as will a very special guest: Chris Plante, from the Chris Plante Show.
Additionally, a comedian, Billy Finch, will join us and do his Caddyshack act! He dresses up and acts like Rodney Dangerfield (Al Czervik) from the movie and does Bill Murray (Carl) bits as well. He’ll be traveling around the course and will be at the awards ceremony.
Lastly, for you Birchmere Music Hall fans, there will be raffles for upcoming concerts.
But, most importantly, because you have been strong supporters of the Foundation helping homeless Vets, there is special pricing available only to the Defense team that has been there with us from the beginning. Take a look at the second enclosure for sponsorship, foursome, and individual opportunities.
So, that’s it. Hope to see you all out there for a great cause. We truly appreciate your steadfast efforts to help Veterans.
